Shopping for your wedding dress is one of the most exciting parts about planning your wedding. It really is so much fun, but can honestly also be a little overwhelming for some, the world of wedding gowns is huge, meaning Are you worried that choosing your dress a year in advance can mean you run the risk of not staying on top of the latest fashion trends? Don’t worry, you are in safe hands because most girls will shop one year in advance of their wedding! Our bridal designers are incredible at creating beautiful designs that feel totally ahead of the latest trends. For 2022, we have noticed a trend in bold statement pieces, as many postponed brides who are finally having their big day want to go all out with their Bridal look – and we are loving it!! Here is a roundup of our favourite bridal looks for 2022, all these trends are included in our gorgeous hand selected collection of gowns in our boutiques Minster Bridal Couture in Chichester and Minster Bridal Boutique in Wimborne.

Ruffles and Dramatic Skirts

Loved by all the girls at Minster Bridal, ruffle skirts are big for 2022 and beyond and, the bigger the better! Big dramatic skirts with ruffles have come a long way since the oversized dresses of the 80s and 90s and have been given a makeover by bridal designers with a new modern look. Layers of cascading fabric is used to create volume and drama with lots of movement. Different fabrics have been chosen and designers have experimented with different styles of bodice, some more contrasting than others to create a variety of different looks. Either way a dress with a statement skirt is a guaranteed way to make a stylish impact on your big day!

Disco Chic Bead Work

2022 will see glitter return in a dazzling way! We are talking sparkling sequins, glimmering beads and pearls, plus fluttering 3D floral appliques. These dresses work well for all seasons and are a take on the metallic trend that we saw a lot of a few years ago. Beautiful bead work looks stunning against your metallic gold and silver toned bridesmaid dresses and especially for evening receptions. Bead work with a more silver tone works well on paler skin whilst dresses with a blush toned under skirt or more gold or rose gold detail will work better on darker or olive skin.

Sexy Silhouettes

For all of us who have spent the majority of 2020 and 2021 in our activewear and trainers, now is the time to step into something a little more glamorous! Make an impact on your wedding day in a beautifully fitted gown styled to perfection. There are too many options with this style of dress to list, but we are talking classic looks with side splits, low cut necklines and figure-hugging designs. All fitted to perfection by our in-house team of seamstresses for a couture high class look.

Statement sleeves

2022 wedding dresses are all about the statement sleeve. Be it smaller off-the-shoulder balloon sleeves or full-length billowing bishop sleeves, this bold fashion statement that has been seen lots on the fashion runway has firmly made its way into the bridal world, and we love it! Think less 80s relic and more boho chic and sexy off the shoulder silhouettes! We think this trend is perfect for fashionable brides who want to make a romantic statement on their big day.

Minimalist Millionaire

Strikingly simple plain gowns are timeless and elegant and instantly look expensive. Our favourite plain dresses are minimalist but with modern, fashionable design details to give a bit of edge to the bridal look. Our minimalist dresses lend themselves to accessories really well, so if you are a jewellery junky this could be for you! You can use accessories and veils to really create your own look meaning that each dress is worn differently on each bride which we really love! Here are our favourites at the boutique.

The return of the fishtail!

Fishtail gowns have been a popular choice for many years, even decades! But for next year we are seeing them return with an element of drama and sophistication to suit this new era of 2022 brides. Sometimes known as a mermaid or trumpet wedding dress, the fishtail wedding dress is a flattering shape for most brides. They can accentuate and flatter curves yet add the illusion of an hourglass figure to a straighter frame. We love the fishtail wedding dress because it looks great in so many different fabric options. Whether your preference is Mikado satin, delicate lace or layers of tulle you’ll find your dream fishtail gown. Here are some of our favourites!
